The Lower Mainland Bengali Cultural Society (LMBCS) is excited to invite you to our very first Kali Pujo celebration on 1st November! This marks a special moment for our community, and we are thrilled to share the auspicious occasion with all of you.
Kali Pujo, also known as Shyama Pujo, is a festival dedicated to Goddess Kali, primarily celebrated in West Bengal, Odisha, and Assam. While most of India celebrates Diwali with the worship of Goddess Lakshmi, Bengalis honor Kali on this night, seeking her blessings for protection and strength.
Goddess Kali is revered as a fierce destroyer of evil forces and a protective mother figure. Traditionally, worshippers offer flowers, fruits, sweets, and other offerings to receive her blessings for courage, wisdom, and the elimination of darkness and ignorance from their lives. The rituals, often performed at midnight, symbolize the triumph of light over darkness.
This historic celebration will include traditional midnight rituals, bhog (prasad), cultural performances, and much more. We warmly invite you, your family, and your friends to join us in seeking the blessings of Maa Kali and celebrating the strength, courage, and unity of our vibrant community.
